LES CHARACTERS

The characters seemed different in the movie because I never imagined Fantine and Cosette looking so beautiful.  I never imagined them looking the way they look like in the movie.  Another thing that surprised me the most was their talking.  Instead of them talking normal, they sing to what they are saying.  Also, I never imagined Jean Valjean letting Javert go after everything he has done to him.

Les Book / Les Movie

The movie is almost the same as how to book is. I never imagined the characters talking in a singing voice. The place is also very different to how I imagined it to be.

MY BEST WRITING

I selected 2 posts from my blog which are Endgame and my Ignite talk.  I am proud of these posts because I can express and show how interested I'm in a topic. I have a writers' conference coming up with Dr. Preston, and I'm excited to go over what I have improved on since the beginning of the school year.  I chose these two pieces for specific reasons.

MONKEY SEE/HEAR/DO

The learning modalities that are most effective for my Masterpiece topic are that I’m going to use slide shows as a visual so my audience could see my work and follow along.  Also, I’m going to ask for people to volunteer/ participate in showing what my topic is about.  A last thing I’m going to do is that I’m going to make my slides clear enough for my audience to be able to understand.

ESSAY DU JEAN VALJEAN

Jean Valjean is a dynamic character because he changes throughout the story.  He changes because in the beginning of the story he steals silver from the bishop and then realizes that what he did was wrong.  Another reason that made him realize and change who he really is, was Petit Gervais.  A last thing that made Jean Valjean change is Cosette.           Jean Valjean started changing when the bishop was helping him from getting arrested, and started to reflect on what he was doing wrong.  On chapter XII, The Bishop Works, it states that, " We came across him.  He was walking like a man who is running away. We stopped him to look into the matter.  He had this silver--."  This means to me that Jean Valjean stole the silver because he needed to keep his family from starving.  This helps him later reflect on everything he had done wrong and will soon find out that stealing causes even more...

LES THEMES

An idea I have gotten from the book that we have read so far is that Father Fauchelevent found a way to have Jean Valjean and Cosette enter through the door and to be able to stay there with no more hiding.

IGNITE TALK

My topic is what happens after we die?  I've heard that once you are dead you still have cells in your body that are still working.  I did some research on my question and found some answers to my question.  I learned that hearing is the last sense to go in the dying process.  A connection is when Fantine died in Les Mis.  I'm going to continue doing some more research on this topic to figure out what really happens after we die.

Notes *Les Mis*

Fauchelevent is going to be used as a lever.

Notes * Les Mis*

Hugo focuses on the symbolic significance of the convent because on page 509, it states that, " The convent, which is common to the East as well to the West, to ancient as well as modern times, to Paganism as well as to Buddhism, to Islam as well as to Christianity, is one of the optical appliances man turns on the Infinite." His tone towards the subject of religion is that he believes in God and the Catholic Church.  In my opinion, I think that the convent is foreshadowing of what is going to happen next.

MY BIG QUESTION

Today I found interesting information about what happens after death.  Most of the websites didn't have the exact information but they did explain what the symptoms and feeling are.  Some people think research is boring because they have to do it for a class, and it's usually about something that's not interesting.  But today I did research and it was awesome.  Here's how I did it...  I went online and found some very interesting links that tell me how people feel when they are near death.  I also found an article about a man who died for 3 minutes and saw death.  This makes me more interested in my big question.

WEEKEND GOALS

I will post more during the week and weekend to explain in every blog what I have learn so far.  Another thing I would do is to keep the blog up to date with as many vocabulary words as I can find. A last thing I would do is go to the online book and read the important facts that happened during the story and chapter that we have read so far.

JEAN VALJEAN IN ANOTHER STRANGE SITUATION

VOCABULARY: Reverie: a state of being pleasantly lost in one's thoughts Hostile: unfriendly; antagonistic Chimeric: impossible to achieve Solicitude: care or concern for someone or something  During the reading I learned that Jean Valjean meet again with Fauchelevent and he was helping him the way Jean Valjean helped him.

ENDGAME

What I want to learn and get good at in this course between now and June is that I want to get better at writing more in my journals.  I really want to write more and more on my journal entries so I can be able to show how much I can write about a topic.  Another thing I want to get good at is in participating more.  I'm a really shy person and I'm trying to actually participate more in class in order to be able to show others that I know what I'm doing and that my speaking is fluent.  A last thing that I want to get better at is on my Google Doc.  My main goal for the doc is to get as many vocabulary words as I can and being able to define them.

A SENSE OF PLACE

I think that Hugo begins so many sections with a detailed description of the setting because he probably wants to lets us be aware of what is going to come out later on in the story.  I do agree that he has a strong sense that place and history are important to who we are.  Some places in my life that I think are important to me is my home that I live at right now.  Being in this place did shape the person I have become because I was raised in that house and I have a lot of memories.

BQ THOUGHTS

I have kind of been thinking during class about another big question but I don't go really in depth about it.  I think that I should be thinking more about the big question and to come up with one because it is going to help me later on during class.  I don't really talk about my BQ outside of school but, from now on I will try to focus more on it.

MY ONLINE ME

When I searched myself online, I actually found a lot of people named like me.  I wasn't actually able to find myself online because I'm not "famous".  But I did find other people that had my name and last name and they have a really good job and are successful.
