FOR THE WIN/TER BREAK

My big question is that why do people sneeze when you look directly at the sun?  My intention for the winter break is that me and my family are planning to go to Mexico.  We want to go to Mexico because I want to go visit my grandma.  If I go, then it is going to be my first time seeing her and I'm so happy.

WHAT'S LOVE GOT TO DO WITH IT?

Love has to do with most of the things in the world.  When someone does something with love, you start noticing it because sometimes in changes everything.   Love is a good thing because you feel more positive about what your doing for example; when you are cooking something and then later that day you invite someone to come over, they know when the food was made with love because it gives the food a better taste.

Essay

A character who is dynamic is a character that changes throughout the story.  A dynamic character from this book is Jean Valjean.  This character changes throughout the book because he goes to jail because he stole a loaf of bread for his sister's children, he got the silver place from the bishop, and he stole the coin from a little boy.       Jean Valjean is a dynamic character in this story because he was arrested and sent to jail for stealing a loaf of bread.  He wanted to help his sister because she didn't have a job or food to help her with her children.  He decided to go to the bakery to steal a loaf of bread for his family.  In page 83, and 84 it states that," One Sunday night, the bakery on the Place d l'Eglise was close by.  He punched with his fist against the glass.  The arm seized one loaf of bread and took it."  This means to me that Jean Valjean really cares about his family and doesn't want to let them die of starvness.       Another e

CALLING MY SHOT

On tomorrow's exam, I think that I am going to do OK.  I am going to try my best to answer the prompt and to find evidence like quotes to support my reasoning.  My main hardest part about writing an essay is that i struggle on sometimes finding the evidence that supports my reasoning.

SOMETHING'S ON MY MIND

What is on my mind right now is that on Friday I am going to take 4 tests.  I have to study a lot and pay more attention to what we are learning in class.  Also, they are counting the tests as a final.  I think that I should start studying more so I can get good grades in my classes.

LURKING LIT TECHNIQUES

Studying the lit terms has helped me understand our reading by knowing the plot, foreshadowing, and the mood. An example that I found out was when it says that, "they had begun to feel anxious at the Naval Department, on account of the lack of news from that fatal frigate."  This helps me know what there mood is.  Another example is when it says that, "David had no longer any talent, Arnault had no longer any with, Carnot was no longer honest." It is foreshadowing to me because it is making me think that none of the characters in the story are responsible and that they had lost their trust. A last lit term that helps me understand the reading is the plot.  An example is when it says that, "Legitimacy had just asserted itself by cutting off the hand, and then the head of Pleignier, of Carbonneau , and of Tolleron."  To me , this part is exciting and interesting because it is telling us how they were cutting themselves up.

WHAT I DID TODAY

Today, my family and I went to Los Angeles to go visit one of my uncles that came from New York.  I was very happy because I hadn't seen him since almost 2 years ago.  After that we went to Long Beach and spent the whole afternoon there with my family.  Today was a good day to remember.

SOMETHING I'M THINKING ABOUT

Something that I'm thinking about right now is that , I need to know what I am going to do during the weekend.  I always think about what I'm going to do in the weekend because if I don't think then I just end up doing things that I don't have to do. Also, I think about what I am going to eat when I get home from school.

HERE'S YOUR SILVER

The bishop's reaction did surprise me.  I got really surprised when the bishop instead of getting Jean Valjean in trouble, he helped him. I never thought that the bishop would help Jean Valjean as how he did in the story.  I do think that the bishop serves as a meaningful and helpful person because he defended Jean from getting in jail again.

INCITING INCIDENT

I was getting interested in the inciting incident because when Jean Valjean starts talking about opening the door slowly and hearing things I was thinking to myself of what was going to happen next.  I think that maybe it is going to continue by Jean Valjean talking about what he is seeing.

MY SEMESTER GOAL

What I want to learn/accomplish between now and finals week is to be able to read at least 6 more chapters of Les Mis with my lit circle.  The grade that I'm aiming for is to try to get and A+ and if I already do then I'm going to try and stay with it throughout the semester.  I am planning to keep up with my journal and to be posting all the time in my blog.  Also, to be able to read 5 or 6 chapters more in the book.

THIS BOOK MATTERS

What jumped out to me or what I think I found more interesting is when Jean Valjean was talking about his life.  Many thoughts came to him but one kept reappearing to him.  His thought was that he noticed the silver place settings and the large spoon that Madame Maglorie had put on the table. It obsessed him.

WE ARE [NOT] LES MIS

My experience of beginning to work with my lit circle this week is ok.  I feel like I am going to get a lot of help from my group members and that maybe I might learn more if we all go at a good pace.  Also, I think that we can even get more involved in knowing/understanding what is happening in the book while we are reading it.
