IGNITE TALK

My topic is what happens after we die?  I've heard that once you are dead you still have cells in your body that are still working.  I did some research on my question and found some answers to my question.  I learned that hearing is the last sense to go in the dying process.  A connection is when Fantine died in Les Mis.  I'm going to continue doing some more research on this topic to figure out what really happens after we die.

Notes *Les Mis*

Fauchelevent is going to be used as a lever.

Notes * Les Mis*

Hugo focuses on the symbolic significance of the convent because on page 509, it states that, " The convent, which is common to the East as well to the West, to ancient as well as modern times, to Paganism as well as to Buddhism, to Islam as well as to Christianity, is one of the optical appliances man turns on the Infinite." His tone towards the subject of religion is that he believes in God and the Catholic Church.  In my opinion, I think that the convent is foreshadowing of what is going to happen next.

MY BIG QUESTION

Today I found interesting information about what happens after death.  Most of the websites didn't have the exact information but they did explain what the symptoms and feeling are.  Some people think research is boring because they have to do it for a class, and it's usually about something that's not interesting.  But today I did research and it was awesome.  Here's how I did it...  I went online and found some very interesting links that tell me how people feel when they are near death.  I also found an article about a man who died for 3 minutes and saw death.  This makes me more interested in my big question.

WEEKEND GOALS

I will post more during the week and weekend to explain in every blog what I have learn so far.  Another thing I would do is to keep the blog up to date with as many vocabulary words as I can find. A last thing I would do is go to the online book and read the important facts that happened during the story and chapter that we have read so far.

JEAN VALJEAN IN ANOTHER STRANGE SITUATION

VOCABULARY: Reverie: a state of being pleasantly lost in one's thoughts Hostile: unfriendly; antagonistic Chimeric: impossible to achieve Solicitude: care or concern for someone or something  During the reading I learned that Jean Valjean meet again with Fauchelevent and he was helping him the way Jean Valjean helped him.

ENDGAME

What I want to learn and get good at in this course between now and June is that I want to get better at writing more in my journals.  I really want to write more and more on my journal entries so I can be able to show how much I can write about a topic.  Another thing I want to get good at is in participating more.  I'm a really shy person and I'm trying to actually participate more in class in order to be able to show others that I know what I'm doing and that my speaking is fluent.  A last thing that I want to get better at is on my Google Doc.  My main goal for the doc is to get as many vocabulary words as I can and being able to define them.
